My name is Valerie Curtis. I come from a secretarial background (Chairman level) and went into Higher Education to qualify to teach adults obtaining a BA (Hons) in Further Education and Training. I taught secretarial skills to adults wishing to reach RSA and Pitman’s Professional Level in word processing. During this time I became interested in reflexology because of the wonderful experience I had receiving the treatments. I was suffering from fatigue and although extremely sceptical about reflexology, I was encouraged by a friend to try it. After my first session I was so energised and had a further six weekly sessions. I became hooked and my reflexologist became one of my case studies. Since graduating, I worked as a volunteer for Age Concern (Bexley) cutting toe nails for the elderly and doing foot massage. I’ve continued volunteering in other areas and now, including Health Watch England.
I am a fully qualified, insured Reflexologist, Face Reflexologist and complementary therapist. Since graduating from The London School of Reflexology in 1999 I’ve refreshed my skills with Louise Keet who is an absolutely fantastic teacher and highly recommended. Last year I completed a ‘Facial Reflexology’ and ‘Advance Facial Massage’ course at the same college with Ziggy Bergman and this I’ve found extremely relaxing to do and receive. I’m a full member of The Association of Reflexologists (MAR) and abide by their code of ethics and practice. I’m also fully qualified in many other therapies which include Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Swedish body massage, Auricular Therapy, Kansa Vatki Foot/leg Massage where I trained at the Champissage Centre and hold a current Emergency First Aid Appointed Person Certificate and an updated CRB Certificate.
My continuing training is with a Reflexology group where we attend monthly meetings and exchange ideas, therapies and have talks and demonstrations of other therapies by other therapists. We also do treatment swaps.
My new passion is Aroma-Touch Therapy using do-Terra oils. I work from the bottom of the spine to the top of the head and bottom of the feet. This touch is extremely light and very relaxing. I also use Do-Terra oils where the oils are used specifically on the spinal area of the foot with a full Reflexology Treatment. It’s wonderful to see the stresses on my clients face disappear. I practice my therapies in retirement complexes, and specialise working with the elderly and disabled. I’ve now created a ‘healing place’ at home and absolutely love this new experience. It’s wheelchair friendly with bathroom facilities on the ground floor. Parking is good.
All my therapies are relaxing and may help to reduce stress and anxiety; thus easing the symptoms of many conditions including: sleeping problems, headaches, IBS and stress. However, please note that some therapies may not suit everybody because they may have contra-indications on their individual conditions may not be suitable. It is always wise to consult your GP if you have any doubts about receiving a therapy and let the therapist know in advance of any condition for which you are being treated medically.
AromaTouch therapy has to be the most relaxing therapy of all. I use do-Terra oils which are 100% organic are applied to head, spine and soles of the feet. You have to experience it to believe it.
If you have never had a complementary therapy, choose a ‘Taster’ for £20 which will be taken off the price if you book a further full-price session.
Home visits are available to the elderly, disabled, children or carers at no extra cost within a 10 mile radius but this does not include Taster Sessions.
